Gloomy Crooners is the result of explorations in jazz ballads and slow jams, through a foggy, beat maker’s lens. It’s built from the sounds of organic instruments, synthesizers, and field recordings - layered, sampled, chopped and dragged through the mud. The LP drifts through sounds that feel like: being comfortably lonesome, falling in love, dimly-lit romance, heartache, long drives down a moonlit coast, longing, pining, and playful eyebrows. Gloomy Crooners is at least the eleventh album from Dust Collector (no one can be sure), and was recorded in bedrooms, garages, backyards, beaches, studios and cabins between 2015-2020 in San Francisco, Oakland, Portland and Pescadero.
